**Subject:** Initial impressions after kickoff
---
Nora, Yuki,
I wanted to send a brief note this evening while the kickoff meeting is still fresh. Overall, I'm quite optimistic about this engagement. ClearPath Solutions is well-organized, and their leadership team is clearly invested in making this work.
**What went well:**
The kickoff was well-structured. Thomas Reed opened with a clear articulation of what they want: a comprehensive review of their compliance documentation workflows with specific focus on audit readiness and risk mitigation. Priya Anand, their Head of Operations, will be our primary liaison—and she strikes me as highly responsive and detail-oriented. The team leads (Marco, Laura, Riccardo, Chiara) all seemed engaged and ready to cooperate with our observation schedule.
The scope is clearly defined, timeline is locked, and the budget aligns with our fee structure (€85K, day rates at €1,200 senior and €650 analyst). We have 12 weeks to deliver findings and recommendations, with a target board presentation in early December.
**What bears watching:**
One item I want to flag early: our SOW includes a data access clause that specifies we have rights to historical logs going back 12 months. However, Nora correctly noted this morning that if we need to extend that scope, or if ClearPath cannot provide clean data for that window, we may face friction. Their compliance database was migrated in Q3 2024, which could complicate our audit trail analysis. David Park (their CTO) seemed cooperative but also stretched thin—he may not be available on short notice if we need quick technical support.
I'd recommend we clarify our data access boundaries early and get a detailed schema from their IT team before we move deep into the audit analysis phase. That said, I don't anticipate major issues. This just feels like a good-governance precaution.
**Immediate next steps:**
- Nora: would you send a follow-up email to Thomas/Priya outlining our specific data requests and timeline for access?
- Yuki: please prepare a detailed observation schedule for weeks 1-3. Start with their compliance documentation workflow (Marco's team), then move to audit trail infrastructure and risk register review.
- I'll consolidate kickoff notes and distribute a full project charter to everyone by end of week.
This should be a straightforward engagement with solid findings potential. The client is cooperative, the scope is realistic, and we have a strong team to execute. Looking forward to getting started.
Marcus
